May bells jingle as we greet o’malume for the first time this year
May our loud aunts be more than a nuisance.
May gogo’s chicken go down well with the ice cold coke in the short whisky glasses
May we sing along with our sandton cousins
May we enjoy their ignorance
May we honour mama’s invitation to watch the Christmas gospel show
May we keep our eyes open as mkhulu blesses the meal so we see the blessing with our very eyes
It’s been a year of tough love and pretty skies
A year of tears and short lives smiles
Yet, we gather again
And that’s all that matters
The breath in our lungs
The beating hearts in our chest
The loved ones we still have
The God who still chooses us
