Today we are celebrating women’s day with the beautiful Prophetess Rebecca Nkoana. She is the lead Pastor of Light of The World Ministries situated in Lenyenye outside Tzaneen. The mantra of her church is based on Mathew5:14[ESV] “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden”, and indeed they are living up to it. She takes us on a journey of how she discovered there was a calling to lead a church upon her life and how it is being a female leader in a church setting today.
Her discovery of the calling upon her life unraveled through a dream. “I had a dream where I saw a bible opened with a very big bright light in it before me. At that time, it was not clear to me but my Father in the Lord, Bishop Seloise S.E, confirmed it”, she explains.
When she began the journey of starting her ministry, she explains that it was not easy. Fear tried to contaminate her thoughts as she began to wonder whether she would be respected and if some people would be comfortable being in a church under the leadership of a women. This is a reality that many female pastors face today but instead of letting that discourage her, by the help of the Holy Spirit she pressed forward. The idea that God can use a woman to fulfil his purpose was cemented by reading scriptures such as Luke 1:26, which talks about the Messiah who was conceived through a woman and says, ”it pleased God to use a woman”. Also, in John 4 where Jesus Christ found a woman at the well, he gave her a word and the woman went around telling and preaching about her encounter with the Lord. Even in Judges 4:4 in the old testament we find a woman called Deborah who was called a prophetess. “Reading about these women even gave me courage and strength to stand strong in boldness”, she says.
Today she is well known in her community and expresses that she is very happy that she did not throw in the towel. Through her ministry many lives have been changed and she is proud to say that God has been raising a generation of pastors and musicians within her church. She has stood the test of time and has come out victorious.
During the interview she mentions female minsters such as Rev Lucy Natasha, the late Pastor Irene Tshifiwa and Pastor Mukhuba who she says have been the women that have served as an inspiration in her life and an example that it is possible as a woman when you have God within you and by your side.
In conclusion she had special words of encouragement to all women on this special day. “As a woman you need to be strong and bold, you must know who you are in Christ and not be moved by any situation that comes your way”, she says.
Thanking God for you mama you are Indeed a woman of strength, power, love and courage 💪💪💪💪💪 God continue bless you more and more Amen
