The anticipation toward the 9th Independent National Gospel Music Awards ( INGOMA) had been rising throughout the past weeks and on the 27th of August 2022, the day finally came. The Award ceremony took place at Red Conference Center in Greenstone, Johannesburg.
Excitement and glamour embody the first part of the event – the Red Carpet segment. Nominees and their supporters took to the carpet to share with interviewers what they looked forward to the most about the ceremony. South Africa’s favourite gospel artists graced the stage and among them was the well-loved female gospel music group, Cerenity.
The group members, Lihle Mkhonza, Sihle Mokhonza, Buhle Mkhonza, Lee-Ann Ledwaba and Hlengiwe Mkhonza make a dynamic group with Acapella sounds bringing Heaven right onto Earth. They were nominated in the ‘Best gospel group/duo’ category alongside Rising Sun Choir, Bushbuckridge Worship Explosion, The Light Twins, Die Bruin Gospel Project and Mighty Rooted Voices.
Not only was the group part of those nominated but performed as well. The young ladies excitedly rushed on stage when they were announced as the Best Gospel Music Group; it was a glorious moment indeed.
The group took to their social media to express their gratitude to all those who made the win possible including their parents, their supporters, the INGOMA Awards, and Trace Gospel which was the main sponsor of the event.
