Her voice is Divine, and her heart is gold. If you haven’t figured it yet, we are talking about the beautiful songbird, Divine Gold. She grew up in Malamulele, Limpopo .
Her music seed had always been planted within but remained dormant until the age of five when it began sprouting. Her aunt was a key player in her discovering her love for music as a young girl. She shares fond childhood memories of how she used to love following her aunt to worship team rehearsals and then excitedly return home to imitate her. “I would cry when she didn’t take me with because I wanted to hear her sing, I wanted to be where music was”, she says.
Divine had the bright idea of making worship videos. “The main reason I made the videos was beyond me or rather beyond my love for music. I made those worship videos because I wanted people to get healing through the songs that I minister and most importantly to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour”, she says. When asked whether she had anticipated for the videos to be widely received and loved by people, she confidently says that she did. “People are hungry for the word of God so if I am going to give them the word of God, they should be satisfied”, she says. Adding on to that, she says the warm reception of the videos is something she has always prayed for, and because she had prayed about it, she had faith in God that He would answer that prayer.
She talks about the role God has played in both her life and music ministry. “My whole life has been a story of His grace, His love and mercy. He came through as the Father He says He is”, she says. Divine confidently says she is who she is today because of the patience God has had upon her life. “My whole life and music ministry revolve around Him, it revolves around His word”, she passionately adds.
The award winning artist has been recently nominated again by the Xitsonga music awards for her two singles, Evukoneni and Swi ta Endleka. She shares with us the trajectory she took when writing both songs. Divine confidently says, “the two songs were inspired by the Holy Spirit”. Evukoneni was birthed during her personal time with God. The song encompasses the outpourings of her heart to God while giving Him a word of assurance that His presence is where she wants to be and will stay regardless. On the other hand, with Swi ta Endleka she remembers how she was instinctively playfully singing along to a beat as that is what she loves doing. Boom! From a playful moment the beautiful song was brought to life. “Singing that song was me telling my future that God has already begun a good thing and my future is bound to be bright”, she says.
What she enjoyed the most about working on these songs is that she could relate to both of them. She wants those listening to her music to realise that they have everything they need in the presence of God and that if God is who He says He is then great things are bound to happen in their lives.
People can get her songs from all main digital streaming platforms. So, go ahead and have a divine encounter with God! The songstress says we should expect more videos and definitely more music from her in the near future.
