If nurture had a face

Genesis

Today we have the amazing Josias Dos Moleele. He is an amazing actor and comedian. He shares that his passion for acting is more than a passion or skill, “its a piece of my creative Master who said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was. A piece from the Master is called a masterpiece”. He shares that his art started in his Sunday school days in his father’s church, AME church. “I knew there was something bugging me as I couldn’t stop hogging the stage. From Bible recitals to short skits at church conferences, I knew that I was fueled up for entertainment”, he adds. He did not know then that it was a ministry.

He shares that had it not been for God he would have given up on acting, “By God revealing to me that He has placed this gift in me to win souls, that kept me going through the hardest storms”. He adds that now he faces all his storms head-on because he is not just acting but doing his Father’s business. He shares that although every industry has challenges, lockdown has hit the art industry the hardest, but it is through resilience from God that he survives. “It’s a good test for someone claiming to be a believer”, he says.

“Every story has a purpose or outcome. Choosing the right purpose is more important than the process in my opinion”

“Every story has a purpose or outcome. Choosing the right purpose is more important than the process in my opinion”, he shares. He shares that he chooses roles that aim at bettering or bringing enlightenment to the plights in the community. Some roles are lewd, but it is the manner in which the role is played that matters most. “I believe the story has to be told. For instance, the story of Gomer from the Bible who was a prostitute or David who lusted after someone’s wife. Those stories need to be told but only with taste”, he shares. He adds that he is able to separate character from reality. He says that viewer’s opinions don’t affect his work, “knowing who you are in Christ Jesus will help you cruise through destructive criticism”, he says. However, constructive criticism is always welcomed as it’s a necessary part of growth”. He adds that handling himself with dignity and respect and staying away from bad publicity works too.

He is a passionate about young aspiring creatives, so he started Graduate Arts Project which is aimed at training and developing the creatives. “It is a platform that wishes to normalize access. The toughest part for our young aspiring artists is not the talent but platforms to sharpen skills and showcase”, he passionately shares. He hopes that his project will be that kind of space to make young creatives’ dreams come true.

He is not only an actor and project manager, but he is also the founder of an acting academy called Dos Academy which will be going virtual soon. He also ministers on Predestined Live every Sunday at 11:00. Upon that, he lectures drama at the University of Pretoria. His future aspirations is to  start his own TV channel soon so he can continue to be relevant and nurture young talent.
