It is no secret that the lockdown has caused a standstill on church gatherings and church leaders had to get creative in terms of how they keep in touch with church members. It was not a surprise when Apostle Justice Blessing D from Mbapane also joined other church leaders as they cast their nets in finding ways to keep in touch with church members.
Many raised their eyebrows as a poster circulated on social media announcing that Apostle Justice Blessing D’s church will be having a drive through service and it is what this drive-through service entailed that caused the social media stirr. Congregants were meant to come in their cars, swipe or give their tithe and offerings, receive a blessing from the man of God and then drive back home. “This will be a chance for your kids to see and greet Apostle and receive 2021 blessings from car”, reads the poster. This caused a rift in the opinions of social media users as one user called it a daylight robbery while others simply didn’t see a problem with it.
Siza Dlamini from the Mbapane Worship Centre Ministries during her interview with Independent News, Eswatini says that the services were strictly planned for those who will be using cars. Those who do not have cars were advised to use other means to make their offerings which include Electronic Fund transfers( EFT’S). When asked why the church had come up with this specific service as there will be no preaching or any other church activities she told Independent News, Eswatini that the service would allow people to see their Apostle and declined making any further comments.
