Tumi B: Notes in my veins

Genesis

Music Monday is back again and today we have the beautiful Tumi B Sejeng with us. Born and raised in Soshanguve, Pretoria she says, “everything I do now is motivated by my upbringing in Soshanguve”. She comes from a musical family with her father being a pianist and her mother a singer. It is no shock that she too started singing at a young age in church. She is, however, not only a songbird but a lyricist too. “I was given these songs so that people can be healed and revived”, she shares. Singing is not only her passion but her ministry. She shares that her mother was her biggest inspiration, “I looked at her and thought “God I want to be like that”. I want to fall in love with my gift and ministry so much that we are inseparable”.

She shares her gratitude to her supporters, who she likes to refer to as “partners”. “They made me realize that there are people waiting to hear from me and if I don’t stand up I won’t only be disappointing them, but God and myself too”, she shares. She also adds that the team that she works with daily are a great blessing in her life. “I have children who believe in me so much and pray for me. I have children who want to see the best in me and believe that “no one can sing like my mom”, she lovingly shares. Just because she grew up in a church did not mean she would automatically have a relationship with God. She pursued God and that made the foundation of her life and career to be rooted in Him. “My relationship with God is very important because it keeps me grounded and it reminds me of where I need to go back to as a source”, she shares.

Tumi B will be releasing a new single Fulufhelo langa. It is an old traditional hymn that she added her own personal flavor to. She passionately shares that the song is very personal to her and she believes that people will be able to relate more with the song because of how much she personalized it. Knowing that the song has ministered to her before it reaches the ears of listeners gives her peace and she doesn’t doubt that because she enjoyed working on it, people will enjoy it too. The song is there to encourage people that God is still the hope of our lives and that they should never give up. “A new dawn of hope has come so people need to hold on and partake in the new dawn of hope at all times”, she adds. The song will be available for download on all major digital platforms. Keep a look out for a music video too, yes, you heard it here first, there is a music video in the pipelines.

She shares with us that music is not her only passion, she is passionate about women too. “We need to come together as women and protect one another, protect each other’s families”, she shares. She shares that women should learn to be at peace with each other so they can do more together.

We are told to look out for music in the coming future, only more amazing things to follow. You can follow her social media platforms to keep up to date with her, she is Tumi B-Uncapped on Facebook and tumi_b_uncapped on Twitter and Instagram.
