So dear self… find whatever that is
Left of you and find any kind of growth
Water it to its roots and let it harvest
Better days and better moments
Dark clouds only remain for
A certain time before moving on
Reach for the sky and pay
The sun a good visit
Nurture your soul and let it be
The definition of being radiant
Love yourself and find God
In your everlasting breath ~ Clear

Poetry sessions are back with a beautiful bang. Our first poet of 2021 is non other than the extraordinary Torsten Rybka fondly known by his stage name Clear. He is an amazing father, poet, photographer, MC and mentor, “a lover of all things good in life”. His love for rap and hip hop is what sprouted his love for the art world and initially inspired his love for writing. He shares that because he is a spiritual being, he regards God as his biggest influence and reference in his work, “God inspires me to see things in more ways than one and gives me the light to write about things that the world needs to hear”. He adds that life, people, situations, his circumstances and trying to make a difference through spoken word inspires his work.
He shares that the biggest highlight of his poetry career is when he wrote his first ever poetry production, Speaking From Experience Growth, which was staged at the South African State Theatre in 2016, “that led it to be part of the arts trade fair at the Market Theatre in 2017 and won a special merit award, ” he says. He shares that he would love to see more individuality in the art spaces. “I would love to see artists stand out and be their own individuals, stop mimicking other artists and become trail blazers and create work that makes a difference. Create content that doesn’t affect the mentality of the youth. And lastly, we must stop being like artists from outside our country, like America, and be proud of who we are and do what we are meant to be doing”, he passionately says.

He shares that we should expect more poetry productions, more collaborations, more community work through the medium of poetry, recording and releasing audio poetry albums and hopefully an anthology or two too. You can keep up with Clear on social media, he is @Torsten Clear Rybka on Facebook, @soclear on Twitter and @clear_as_fire in Instagram. His work is also on various social media platforms, his page is Clear on facebook and he has work on SoundCloud, Band camp and YouTube. His work is amazing so go and have a look.
